I remember...

I remember throwing stones
At the village silence and
Laughing at the ripples

Tonight,
I remember eating it all
And throwing it back

I remember
The headache and
Mama?s bitter herbs
The kicks from my uncle and
Empty knocks from aunty
Even the toothless laughter
Of the old witches?

I love them all
This middle of the night.

- Fasting! (poem)
The name is not the substance is the name it is not the fasting but the hidden presence of food drawing saliva from hunger?s mouth when giant yawn halted mid-air replicates through the simmering desert sucking tears from open sockets there is no lie...
