Fasting! (poem)

The name is not
the substance
is the name

it is not the fasting
but the hidden
presence of food
drawing saliva from
hunger?s mouth

when giant yawn
halted mid-air
replicates through
the simmering desert
sucking tears
from open sockets
there is no lie
you cannot lie

when your heart
is the heart of that
little love, fragile
looking for a hole
to escape like a dream
conceived at night
by day
by day
and all the delicacies
eating you up!

there is no lie
you cannot lie
to keep up
the sweet little
slavery

you must be strong
to be weak!
